Open call for journalists and civil society representatives from Armenia. Study visits to Brussels and Prague

EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy is a non-profit, non-partisan, and independent think-tank focusing on European integration and cohesion with its main office in Prague and a second one in Brussels. EUROPEUM contributes to democracy, security, stability, freedom, and solidarity across Europe as well as to active engagement of the Czech Republic in the European Union. EUROPEUM undertakes original research, organizes public events and educational activities, and formulates new ideas and recommendations to improve European and Czech policy making.

EUROPEUM is currently looking for journalists and civil society representatives to participate in a project titled “Assisting independent media and CSOs in enhancing the access to reliable information on the European Union and EU enlargement on social media in Armenia” supported by the Transition Promotion Programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. As a part of a project, selected participants will travel to Brussels and Prague to meet media experts and communication professionals involved in image creation, branding, strategic communication and narrative production.

Preliminary dates for the study visit are 1/7/2025 for Brussels and 2-3/7/2025 for Prague. The goal of the project is to build capacities amongst the participants and increase their ability to create reliable narratives on the EU accession process and a realistic image of the current EU affairs on social media. Drawing on the Czech and EU experiences, the aim is to assist them in producing an informed understanding of the European Union and its enlargement. Organizers of the project will cover expenses of travel, accommodation, refreshments and board during the study visits, as well as the visa expenses and travel insurance of the successful applicants.

The working language of the study visits will be English, and no translation will be provided.

What we offer?

Successful candidates will:

  • Visit experts and relevant stakeholders in Czech and EU governmental bodies
  • Visit fellow journalists and civil society representatives engaged in strategic communication, image creation and narrative assessment
  • Familiarise themselves with the newest trends of communication on EU-related issues
  • Familiarise themselves with the newest communication strategies on social media

What we expect?

Applicants should:

  • Be familiar with social media content production in an increasingly digital news media environment
  • Have a basic understanding of the current state of EU enlargement with a specific focus on the Eastern Partnership and/or Armenia
  • Have been involved in similar topics in their daily work in the media and NGO sector
  • Possess the language skills to converse on these topics in English
