An International Conference on Combatting Disinformation and Propaganda to be held in Yerevan

The Public Journalism Club (PJC), highlighting the significance of the fight against disinformation in Armenia and the development of media literacy, plans to hold an international conference in Yerevan on May 4, 2023.

The conference entitled “Combatting Disinformation and Propaganda: A Dialogue on Resilience Strategies in Armenia and Beyond” is being organized within the framework of the “Media and Information Literacy Accelerator” project implemented by the PJC and funded through a Department of State Public Diplomacy Section grant.

This event was initiated by the Public Journalism Club, organized in cooperation with the “Public Relations and Information Center” of the Office of the RA Prime Minister and Media Initiatives Center.

The aim of the conference is to create a dialogue platform for policymakers, experts, media representatives, civil society organizations, and citizens to engage in a series of discussions with decision makers on disinformation, media manipulation, its challenges and tools to tackle it. The conference will focus on emerging challenges of disinformation and help the Armenian expert community increase their understanding of computational propaganda, advanced techniques of digital disinformation and media literacy. The conference will also provide a chance to share experiences of American and Armenian expert communities in countering fake news and disinformation thus building stronger ties between them.

The main target audience of the event is Armenian media and CSO representatives, policymakers, students from different universities’ Journalism departments, and industry representatives.

The conference will be a valuable platform for sharing insights, experiences, and strategies to tackle the challenges of disinformation and build resilience in Armenia and beyond.

The conference will be conducted in Armenian and English with simultaneous translation.

Participation is by invitation only. The entrance for journalists is free.
