Media.am’s coverage of the study “Telegram as a Propaganda Environment: An Analysis of Narratives in Russian-Language Channels,” conducted by the Public Journalism Club, within the framework of the program “Studying and Countering Disinformation in Armenia through the Application of the Estonian Experience, Ahead of the 2026 Elections.”

The year 2025 in Armenia unfolded in a turbulent political environment, marked by active steps toward integration with the EU, deepening relations with the United States, and the continued strain in Armenian-Russian relations. During the pre-election period, the information space became more vulnerable to external interference, while Russian media continues to serve as an influential source of information for a significant segment of readers.

Taking these factors into account, the Public Journalism Club conducted a study titled “Telegram as a Propaganda Environment: An Analysis of Narratives in Russian-Language Channels,” aiming to identify the propaganda and manipulative narratives circulated in Russian-language Telegram channels about Armenia under these conditions.

In total, 18 Telegram channels were examined, including two channels of state agencies, three Russian-language channels of Armenian origin, and 13 Russian channels. The materials published between May and September were analyzed.
