Who Is the EU Opening the Door To? Correct and Misleading Perceptions of Visa Liberalization

Visa Liberalization with the European Union is a phrase that many people in Armenia have heard, but is there a clear understanding of what it actually means? Does it imply free movement, the right to reside, or unrestricted travel for work and study? What is fact, and what is misconception?

Factor TV asked citizens what they know about visa liberalization with the EU. The findings revealed that misconceptions about the process remain widespread. In reality, visa liberalization is governed by clearly defined rules, limitations, and opportunities.

It should be noted that on March 26–27 of this year, Gohar Khachatryan participated in a two-day seminar in Aghveran under the same program title. Within the framework of the seminar, 11 representatives of Armenian media outlets met with Vassilis Maragos, Ambassador of the European Union to Armenia, as well as ambassadors and consuls of EU member states and representatives of Armenian state institutions, to discuss the progress of EU–Armenia cooperation, including visa-related issues.
